WASHINGTON DC: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other lawmakers participate in a prayer vigil outside the US Capitol on Thursday, January 6, to mark the one-year anniversary of the insurrection. CAPE TOWN: Archbishop Thabo Makgoba places  Desmond Tutu’s ashes into the high altar of the St. George's Cathedral in Cape Town, South Africa, on Sunday, January 2. Tutu, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Anglican cleric whose good humor, inspiring message and conscientious work for civil and human rights made him a revered leader during the struggle to end apartheid in his native South Africa, died December 26 at the age of 90 (Benny Gool/AP).
